ITINERARY
Day-1:
Meeting at Bodrum Airport or
Milas Bus Terminal. Transfer to pension in the village by Lake
Bafa (Latmos).


Day-2:
Day-Hiking; Walking to City Walls and Byzantium Churches with Frescos:
This region, with a history dating back 2,000 years,
was once the home to famous pioneering philosopher Herakleitos. Hiking on
our first day path, we will go through the ancient Herakleia settlement by the
lake. This will give us the chance for study and view the ancient walls and the
stone graveyards of Herakleia. Swimming and snorkeling on the beaches of Bafa
Lake. Overnight in pension.
 
Day-3:
Trekking;
Start the walk
from the village by the Lake Bafa through ancient Herakleia town. Through a
scenic shepherd’s path to Monastery of the
Seven Brothers (7th Century),
we will examine frescos of the early Christians, where the monks lived for
suffering. Right after leaving at the monastery behind us, with a
short walk, we will arrive at the rock cave of the pre-historic 8,000 years old
paintings. These paintings are only to be found in eleven places around the
world. Ten of these caves are in total to be found in Latmos
Mountains. More challenging walk through the thick, tall, centuries old
beautiful pine forests. We will arrive at the camp base at around 1,000 meters
altitude.
Camp I
Day-4:
Trekking;

Stylos Monastery. Today following heritage of St. Paul the Young, visit a unique
cave formed from frescos. Stylos Monastery is the biggest of the region. Here
has been made known with the St. Paul who
lived in the past, by being fed with pine nut on a column form a long time.
We will walk in thick pine forests with the great rock formations as well as the
other growth of the mountains makes the colors and the scenery great. After
visiting nomad houses and villages, we will walk through mountain passes on the
King’s Road and back to the pension in the footsteps of the ancient Gods,
Goddesses and the Christian Hermits on the King’s Road. Overnight in pension.
Day-5:
Sea-kayaking; Start paddling from Herakleia, explore the Lake Latmos
beauties and ancient heritage by you paddles. We reach the beautiful remote
sandy beaches at the northern shore of Lake Bafa. A climb up to a castle on the
hill. Dinner and camp at lake shore. Camp-II
  
 Day-6:Sea-kayaking; Observations in the marshland,
the tamarisk groves and the shoreline vegetation of the Meander at the western end of Lake Bafa. During sea
kayak trip many bird species are frequently sighted. The bird population varies
depending on season and water level. Overnight in pension.



Day-7:
Sightseeing trip; Visiting most popular local market in the town of Milas
(Mylasa) and three different ancient ruins around the region. Overnight in
a
pension.
Day-8:
Transfer to Bodrum airport. Fly
to home.
